Royal Deeside Aberdeenshire, Scotland
A Special place for that Special occasion |
|
Braemar, a pretty and historic village surrounded by beautiful hills, is a wonderful place to celebrate that special occasion. Should you wish for a Grand Scottish Wedding complete with Highlands trappings or a quiet getaway to celebrate a wedding anniversary or other treasured event then Braemar has something to offer you.
Only eight miles from the royal Balmoral Castle the village of Braemar has some fine churches, excellent halls and quality shops. Add to that a range of accommodation ranging from large hotels through small hotels, guest houses and bed and breakfast homes. There are also hostel accommodation, self-catering cottages and a camping and caravan park.

Mar Lodge
This grand house was originally built for the Duke of Fife and now belongs to the National Trust for Scotland. Its wonderful ballroom has been the scene of many memorable celebrations |
|
The hill, Creag Choinnich, with historic links stretching back to King Kenneth McAlpine is viewed here from the ruins of Kindrochit Castle. In the mid-background is St Margaret's, one of three fine churches in the village. |
A reversal of the above view. The village of Braemar is viewed from Creag Choinnich. To the middle right the River Dee is seen descending from the Cairngorm mountains past beautiful Linn of Dee and Mar Lodge. It continues past ancient Braemar Castle which lies at the edge of Braemar |

A wedding in Scotland is not complete without the sound of pipes and a touch of tartan. Here a piper is practicing before competing in the Braemar Gathering and Highland Games. |
